Choose an Aerial Work Platform Family

Describe where people need to work before choosing a family. Keep the raised task, the movement route and the transport plan together when comparing equipment.

Compare the task

Start with the work point and the route to it

  1. Vertical position or horizontal offset?

Record the platform position and the actual work point separately. Add any horizontal offset, overhang or obstacle. Use the Scissor Lifts, Boom Lifts and Mast Lifts pages to review those equipment paths; a height figure alone does not settle the choice.

  2. How will the equipment move?

Distinguish travel during the task from transport to the next location. Include doors, aisles, turns, thresholds, storage, unloading space and floor conditions. Compare mobile, self-propelled and crawler family information using the same route measurements.

  3. What belongs in the platform load?

Describe the people, tools and materials together, plus the working-space requirement. Keep the platform area, extension and overall machine dimensions separate when reading each family page.

  4. Which site conditions need review?

Record slopes, ground condition, nearby activity, indoor or outdoor exposure and the available power or charging supply. Carry these details into the enquiry alongside the destination, quantity and preferred timing.
